New Hampshire was named after a southern English
county that borders Massachusetts. New
Hampshire is 44th in land area, 46th in total area
of the 50 states, and 41st in population. New
Hampshire was one of the original thirteen states
that founded the United States of America. It also
brought the United States Constitution into effect
by ratifying it, and was the first state to have
their own constitution. The states motto is "Live
free or Die." New Hampshire's nickname refers to the
states self sufficiency which is "The Granite
State."
