North
Dakota does not have a very big population as of 2006 it
was just at 640,000. North Dakota was carved out of the
northern half of the Dakota Territory and admitted to
the Union as 39th state. The western side of the state
is more hilly and contains lignite coal and oil. In the
east the Red River Valley holds the fertile farmland.
The United States Air Force operates at both Minot and
Grand Forks which are the primary public universities in
North Dakota.
